Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2012

Melbourne Food and Wine is a non-profit organisation that stages the annual Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, a fortnight-long program of events across Victoria. The Festival celebrates and enhances food and wine excellence, generating global anticipation and visitation. Through its delivery, Melbourne Food and Wine promotes the quality produce, talent and lifestyle of our great foodie state to reinforce Victoria as the preeminent food and wine capital of Australia.

Melbourne Food and Wine has the strong support and respect of the food, wine and hospitality industry. Each year the industry unites to share the unique passion and expertise that have shaped Victoria's culinary landscape. In 2012, the festival celebrates it's 20th anniversary.

A SPANISH TWIST - Riverside Opening Weekend event (reservations recommended)

Relax at a table on the outdoor terrace and watch the world go by, or pull up a stool under the spectacular wine gantry.

Enjoy live chilled-out tunes and a relaxed vibe as mixologists serve you frozen sangria cocktails. Get involved as our Chefs conjure up fresh paella and Spanish grill items live on the terrace barbeque.

WHEN: Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 March 2012 - Midday til late
COST: $5 glasses of sangria, $10 paella and bbq items

SPAIN VS. VICTORIA - intimate, interactive cocktail hour events (ticketed - book below)

Hosted by Hilton's Executive Chef Philippe Perrey and the hotel sommelier Toby Um, Sotano Wine + Tapas will feature a showdown between Spain and Victoria.

Spanish wine vs Victorian wine. Spanish cheese vs Victorian cheese. Spanish cured meat vs Victorian cured meat. Who will be the winner? This educational program will allow you to sip and sample a selection of the best produce from both Spain and Victoria.

WHEN: Monday, 5 March; Wednesday, 7 March; and, Saturday, 10 March 2012 - 5pm to 7pm
COST: $89 per adult
